**** SPOILERS BELOW ***** I would say this series is 3/4 from blood and ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout and 1/4 Crown of Shards by Jennifer Estep. and I very much enjoyed bother series.

This was a wonderful story but I think our author took a little much of an inspiration from the From Blood And Ash series. The parallels were not hard to miss and was like the author took the plot of Steps series and inserted it into Armentrout's entire story line. I hope the next few books are much her own as of right now I've read the first two and I felt like I was in the head of Armentrout.

From Blood and Ash series similarities;

-Legion (his alias and guard) and Hawke (alias for the price poppy guard

They both 'infiltrate the palace etc.

- The blood wraith and The dark one being the price as well as the alias of both prices

-The agitators and The descenders ( followers of the Blood wrath and night price the rightful heir to the throne...)

- The brothers (valen and sol) thinking one was dead he's not, but he's being held 'captive' (Casteele and Malik)

- Poppy and Else fleeing there homes, needing to come to terms with these men they feel for in a few days that they lied etc. etc...)

Crown of Shards similarities;

- Family is slaughtered by someone close to them. For the throne....

-finding refuge with "traitors"

Final thoughts? I just read the From Blood and Ash series its done way better the only difference is that there's only one extra 'friend' in the from blood and ash series and two other 'friends' in this story But we'll see as I finished the rest of this series....

Spoiler- I didn't I DNF'd in the first 2 chapters of the next book.
